All About Dignity

PEARLS program of Colorado

Do you know of a person 60+ who seems sad all the time or nearly all the time?

Feeling sad or blue from time to time or once in a while is normal, but it should fade away after a few days. If it doesn’t, the person may be experiencing depression or prolonged sadness.

Over the past two weeks, has the senior:
•      Been feeling sad, rundown, or hopeless?
•      Lost interest in doing things they used to love?
•      Been feeling isolated or alone even when they’re not?
•      Been having trouble sleeping or had a loss of appetite?
If you know of a senior who’s been showing these signs, he or she might benefit from in-home support services.
We are pleased to offer a program for people over the age of 60 who are feeling isolated due to depression, anxiety, COVID-19 or Epilepsy. Called PEARLS (Program to Encourage Active Rewarding Lives) program of Colorado. Are you or someone you know a pearl trapped in a clam shell? We can help open that clam to find you the PEARL.

This evidence-based program consists of six to 8 sessions of in-home support and coaching. We can also offer services over the phone or Skype depending on the persons wishes, its up to them. We work one on one with individuals in their home setting, to offer encouragement, feedback, and to develop an action plan.  The same PEARLS coach works with an individual each visit to help with identifying and solving problems, encourage engagement in activities they enjoy, and provide assistance with gaining skills to manage unpleasant feelings in order to improve their quality of life. This program is designed to address the symptoms of sadness and improve the quality of a senior’s life. We work with 2 clinical supervisors to monitor the individual’s progression and help in ways the senior would like.
