PEARLS (Program to Encourage Active Rewarding Lives)

Do you know of a senior who seems sad all the time or nearly all the time?

Feeling sad or blue from time to time or one in a while is normal, but it should fade away after a few days. If it doesn’t, the person may be experiencing depression. Over the past two weeks, has the senior:

·         Been feeling sad, rundown, or hopeless?

·         Lost interest in doing things they used to love?

·         Feeling isolated, alone?

·         Been having trouble sleeping or had a loss of appetite?

If you know of a senior who’s been showing these signs of depression, he or she might benefit from in-home support services.

A Free Program to Help Seniors with Depression

We are pleased to offer a free program for people over the age of 65 who are feeling isolated due to depression or Epilepsy. Called PEARLS (Program to Encourage Active Rewarding Lives) program of Colorado, This evidence-based program consists of six sessions of in-home support and coaching. We work one on one with individuals in their home setting, to offer encouragement, feedback, and to develop an action plan.  The same PEARLS coach works with an individual each visit to help with identifying and solving problems, encourage engagement in activities they enjoy, and provide assistance with gaining skills to manage unpleasant feelings in order to improve their quality of life. This program is designed to address the symptoms of depression and improve the quality of a senior’s life. We work with 2 clinical supervisors to monitor the individual’s progression and help in ways the senior would like.

The PEARLS program of Colorado is for individuals who:

·         Are 65+ years old

·         Live in El Paso County Colorado (we hope to expand in 2021)

·         Are experiencing depression symptoms

·         Meet the requirements of a depression screening

If you know a senior who could benefit from our free in-home services, please call: 719-459-2017 and tell them you are calling about PEARLS.
